I think my favorite class is my bike class. I get to ride bikes and I get to fix bikes all while getting paid. Total win.
Funny thing about bike class is I often forget that my students are not professional bikers or professional mechanics.
They have put a few new bikes together for our fleet including two very cool cruisers. Apparently, both me and our pro mechanic didn’t catch a mistake the kiddos did while assembling.
If you look closely, this bike is missing the part that attaches the wheel to the frame. This part is called a quick release and on our last ride, the end cap of it had disappeared.
Hopefully, if any of you ride bikes regularly, you would know that you shouldn’t ride with that piece missing because potentially your whole tire could come off while riding. Your bike ride at this moment is not functional.
Surprisingly, the student riding this bike said “we don’t have to walk this bike back, it will be fine. It has been so far!”
Knucklehead. Nope. Not fine.
That wasn’t the most fun ride. And yes, the student had to walk the bike back.
Truly, nothing surprises me.
