Deer at School.

I think these deer look much more eager to learn than some of my students. Funny thing is that they were actually outside our school today. They actually live in this little tiny woods that is next to the school. Crazy! I wonder what it would be like to try to teach a group of deer. I think it would be just about as entertaining as watching cats. I often wonder why a cat all of the sudden thinks it needs to be in a different room. It is quietly sitting on the top of the couch and BAM, the thought comes into its mind that is must be in the kitchen. Suddenly, the cat finds itself in the kitchen and really just is wondering: Why am I in the kitchen? Deer would be those kind of learners that sit there and say to themselves: "Why am I in this classroom and how did I get here?"

Question?

Question: Why do people who have no people skills end up in a position as the head of human resources?

Answer: No clue

Every time I go into deal with issues that only can be solved by human resources at the office of my employ, I try to avoid the woman who I like to refer to as, Grumpy. I hope as I walk through the door that she will have gone home already or that my favorite person in the office will be there to cheerfully call out my name and ask: "How are you?" The nicest person knows that being in human resources means that you must be able to relate to humans and that you are, in fact, supposed to be a resource to all of the humans you come in contact with. I like her. Grumpy, on the other hand could, be the last person on earth and I would still vote her off the island.

Today I walked in to find Grumpy at the front desk. I thought to myself, be nice and maybe she will be nice back. I said hi and how are you doing. No response. I started for the actual human resource office and she stopped me: "NOBODY'S in there!" I then explained my dilemma and she flatly said I would have to wait for the nicest person in the office to be back to get done what I needed to be done. I was peeved because this basically would take at tops three minutes and Grumpy is perfectly able to get the job done. Because Grumpy was so short and mean and scary, I just gave her the thing I needed to be signed and walked away as she was saying: "I am perfectly able to help you but I am too good for this peon type of work and I really don't care about what you need because this life is all about me, so you will have to call my nicest colleague tomorrow to see when it will be done." She really didn't say that, but that is what I heard.

Turkeys on Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was a great day, as it always is. I got to the Bills at about 11 and watched the Packer game with them. At halftime, I peeled potatoes. I couldn't even make too many this year because there was only one bag. Good thing. I am the potato queen and one year I encouraged everybody to peel more potatoes. It was tragic(but really not to me) because we had lots and lots of leftover potatoes. I love mashed potatoes and personally don't think there can ever be too many of them.

After dinner, we played bingo, which is Bills family tradition. I never won a game on my own, even when I played two cards. I gave up after about six rounds. I still got a wonderful prize, a ceramic pig. I should post a picture of it on here, it is amusing.

We then at pie, which is the perfect way to end Thanksgiving. I had a very enjoyable time. I then drove back to Provo and slept and slept. Man, I love vacations and sleeping in. I am very excited to think that I still have a weekend left.

Today I woke up, obviously and then I went to the laundry mat and washed five loads of laundry. I guess you could say it was about time. After that I came home and actually put all of the clothes away, right away. That is a rarity for me. I usually leave the clothes in the bags until it starts to bug me because I can't find any of my clothes. I think it will be good to know where all my clothes are this time around. I then cleaned up a little in my apartment. Thrilling day, I know. I will head back up to Salt Lake tonight to go to one of my former roommate's wedding reception. I am kinda done with wedding receptions but people don't understand that and keep getting married. After the reception, I will be heading to the Bills. Tomorrow we will go to the grandparents house to watch the BYU-Utah Football game. I think I may just be the only one cheering for the Utah Utes. Sorry BYU fans, I am not a BYU fan. They disappointed me long ago and now I pretty much love to cheer against them.

Well, I think that is it for today. I hope all is well and that everybody had a great Thanksgiving. I also hope you are enjoying leftovers. I think they are one of the best part of the whole Thanksgiving experience.

Day One: Thanksgiving Break

Day one: Top Ten Things I am thankful For Today: 1. Having the day off. 2. Sleeping in 3. Heat 4. Patient Friends 5. Reminders of what life is all about 6. Things I can do without even thinking about them. 7. Outlet Malls 8. New things especially my new reversible Nike beanie with a brim 9. Invites to great movies 10. Free exercise bikes

Well, as Thanksgiving custom goes, I am taking today to begin my thankful list. I keep a list of the things that make me happy on my white board in my kitchen. Those things help me remember the things I am thankful for. Thanksgiving is also a great time of year to reflect on things you are thankful for. I guess tomorrow's post will be more of this but today is all about what I am thankful for today. It was a great day off. After getting ready for the day, Janette picked me up and we headed to Park City for some shopping. This also happened after I slept in, I was thankful for that too. The outlets were fun even if they were a little disappointing because I couldn't find too much too buy. I guess I should also be thankful for that because I will have more money at the end of the month. Old Navy does not have an outlet in Park City anymore. It is just a normal store. That was kinda sad, but I still found three shirts to wear. I then spent about an hour in the Adidas store trying to find a suitable pair of basketball shoes. No luck. Then I went to lunch because I was driving Janette nuts by taking so long. I am very thankful for her patience and willingness to deal with me trying to figure out my shoe needs. After lunch, we went to the Nike Outlet which was awesome because when I walked in, I found a spectacular hat. It is like two hats in one because it is reversible. It is also very cute. Within a half an hour I had the hat as well as great basketball shoes. Successful trip after all.

Janette and I then went to Salt Lake and visited with her parents. They are so very nice. We got to chat with her mom for a while which is always nice. I was very touched by her honesty with being frustrated that she could not stir the chocolate for fudge. She is going through chemotherapy and it is no fun to go through. When you are sick like she is, you can't do everything that you would like and you must rely on others to help you. I am so thankful that I am healthy and can do all the things I want to. I admire Janette's mom's strength as she battles cancer. I was thankful to be reminded that life is more than what we can or can't do, it is more than the things we have, it is more than mere moments. Life is all about the moments and all about the people that are close to us and spending moments with those people. It is wonderful to be reminded of that.

Some of the other things that were good today were going to a late movie with a few friends. It was Enchanted and it was so cute and well written. The acting, sets, and animation was great too. Great family movie. I love feel good movies. I am also very glad I have heat in my apartment because it is very chilly here today. When I came home tonight, the bank thermometer read 28 degrees. Brrrrr. I am lastly thankful from my free exercise bike. I rode it for the third time this week. It is very nice to set up in front of the TV and pedal away!

Well, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I hope each of you feels love today and that each of us also realizes just how blessed we are. Life is so good! :)

Sunday from home.

This weekend has a good one. I think the best thing about this weekend is that when I go back so work, I only have to work for two days. That will be a good thing for me. I am excited to go to Park City with Janette on Wednesday. I am also excited that the Packers will play on Thanksgiving day, so I will be watching that as well as enjoying the turkey with the Bills family. Thanks Bills for always letting me come and spend the holiday with you.

I am actually emailing this from home. I do not know why all the sudden I can get the internet here again, but I am not going to complain. I just won't get too excited about it seeing that it seems to go away.

It has been a fun weekend. My friend Megan came up and stayed with me. We went bowling yesterday and then went shopping. I bought too much stuff, but that is life sometimes. Last night we watched Oceans Thirteen. Good movie. Today we pretty much lounged around until church.

Friday was burger Friday and man do I love Red Robin. I would live there if I could. It is always fun to sit with teachers from school and just shoot the bull. It was even more fun this time because we sat next to the really big windows and got to see lots of students we knew come and go from the window looking out at the mall entrance. The most entertaining part of the watching was that we saw a few of our students make paper boats and try to float them in the fountain that is in that part of the mall. The best was when they finally noticed us and totally tried to run away. Hilarious. I love that out in public it is very bad to see your teachers. I guess we are supposed to always be at the school grading papers and lesson planning.

Well, not much else. I am very excited that I can post from my mail now and even attach pictures that turn up. It tried it and it worked. Enjoy this picture from last November. It is a classic.
