Fists at 3:30 a.m.

Hi all. Today was a much better day. Sorry that the posts have seen a little down lately.

I didn't sleep well last night. (I know this seems like it will be a down post again, but I promise it isn't) At 3:30 I was suddenly awake. I didn't think much of it but then heard laughing from the children next door. This made me angry. Why are ten year olds awake at 3:30 a.m. Well, being as comatose and angry as I was, I got up and hit the wall really hard. At first, I thought I had started to bleed. Then after feeling the pain for a few minutes, I thought I had broken my hand. Luckily, there was no blood and I could still move my fingers. I guess I am not that wise at 3:30 in the morning. I have to laugh at myself because I yell at my students all the time for hitting walls and other objects when they get mad. I tell them that the wall will always win. I guess my own advice happened to me this morning. The wall won. I wish I had more of a war wound but it is only a little red, but it does hurt so that should count for something. Good thing is that the laughing stopped and I got back to sleep eventually. Another good thing was that I was reminded that there is a reason for my madness in moving. I will like not having to share any walls with neighbors. Yes, I know there has to be good neighbors somewhere in the world, I am just not feeling it right now.

Today I bowled, ate wonderful ice cream, talked with a friend who is moving and it was awesome as usual, talked to my friend whose mom is dying(it was nice to talk to her, she sounded a lot better than she did earlier in the week), I also had a much needed nap on my futon midday, and I was not very productive when it comes to the whole packing thing. Oh well! I am sure I will get some stuff done tomorrow. In fact, I can start moving stuff in tomorrow afternoon, even furniture if I want to. That will be good.

Anyway. It is late. I like summer though; I don't have to feel guilty for being a night owl!

Superb Ruben and Holy Cannoli!

Today was a good day. It seems that lately that has not been the case. No tires blown, no random tears(okay that is a lie, I was weepy as I talked to my mom about adjusting flights), no water leaks, etc.

I had a fabulous dinner. I have found a superb Reuben sandwich in Provo, which is a very hard find. It is from Kneader's and it is fabulous. It truly made my day. I also chased it with a cannoli, oh my goodness...I couldn't believe how good that cannoli was, I think that could become a new addiction. I may weigh a ton this time next year!

So dinner made the day today, yesterday(I forgot to mention it) my sister made my day. Her students were reading the book:
The Boy Who Was Raised by Librarians and decided to call me because I live in Provo, the same place the author does or did at the time of writing the book. I also know a librarian and she may know the author who also is also a librarian. (funny how a librarian would write that book, ha!) The little first graders were so cute and really made me feel good about knowing somebody who may know the author of the book they were reading. Isn't cool how you can be a hero to little kids through association? I like it.

What else did I do today? I have sometimers so sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't. I moved most of my kitchen and quite a bit of my stuff laying around over to the new place. Due to the water damage, I can't move furniture until Saturday, but I was able to move a little stuff in, which made me feel like I was being productive. Not having school and just being here is weird for me. I haven't done that in a few years. I get a little stir crazy at night. Weird. I will be glad when the move is done. As I type, the carpet is being ripped up in the new apartment. My landlord decided to replace the carpet seeing the living room carpet was soaked thanks to a leaky swamp cooler. I see it as a bonus. I will have new carpet in the front room and the landlord thought it would be a good idea to re-carpet my bedroom too, BONUS! I guess something good is coming of this late move.

Well, I think that is all for today. Life is good, even when it is hard! Remember that!

"When it Rains; it Rains!"

That quote is from a wise roommate I once had. She said that one time when things were going bad for her. "Man, when it rains; it rains!" I like that better than "when it rains; it pours." Just seems more logical doesn't it? Maybe not. Anyway, while I was on a wonderful bike ride my tire popped. Okay, that may not be the whole story. I was getting back onto the trial, after I had gotten a drink of water, and wasn't watching where I was going, and ran into a rock the size of Pluto. Okay, maybe it wasn't that big but it felt like it seeing I knew I saw the rock and felt I had given myself enough room to go around it. I guess not. Luckily, I got to have a lovely hour walk back to my car. And, 25 dollars later I have a new tire, inner-tube and slime. All in a days work(or days play) I guess!

I went through my new apartment today. I am definitely giving up a little space for a little peace and quiet. Today would be moving day, if there wasn't a leak below the living room. I think it is going to be a fiasco to fix. SIGH. I think I am just going to move stuff into the kitchen and bedroom and hope for the best. My wise friend, Moo, made a good point. I am glad that I had not moved all my stuff into the apartment and then have it flood. I am a fan of non-soaked stuff. I guess it is okay timing too because really I won't be around much to be in their way while they fix it!

I think I will go to a movie tonight. Some people think it is weird that I will actually go to a movie by myself. I figure that you aren't supposed to talk during the movie anyway, so what is the big deal? I have some free passes and I figured that I will go, seeing I can't do much moving at the moment!

Well, I hope all of you had a day filled with no flat tires! :)

Rollercoaster of a Day!

Happy summer to me. Funny how I think that because I am now on summer break I should have less stress in my life. Not so. Well, I did have a pretty good day. I stayed up in Salt Lake last night because I was sleepy when it came time to drive home. Driving and Drowsy do not mix. I then came back to Provo this morning and had breakfast with one of my friends and her little boy. It was yummy and nice because I did not see them in a while. I then went on a wonderful bike ride in the canyon. Note the beautiful pictures of the sky I saw along the ride.

Then came the low part of the day. I kept noticing that the apartment that I am supposed to be moving into was not having the carpet cleaned like it was supposed to. So, this evening I finally called my landlord in a bit of a panic, seeing Dish Network is supposed to come tomorrow and move my dish over there. I guess there was a major water leak, so I cannot start moving in tomorrow. The bad thing about that is that I am on a little bit of a time limit. Meaning, I fly out to Wisconsin on Monday. Hopefully they will figure out the problem and fix it so I have a few days to get moved...worst-case scenario, I have to box everything and have the landlord move me. Can we say awkward?

Another low point, one of my friend's mom is dying from cancer. For some reason, that made me cry and cry and cry this evening. I just am feeling very bad for said friend and her family. Life just sometimes does not seem fair at all does it? I think the hardest part of this whole ordeal for me is that I feel so helpless. Life is hard when we can't control things, huh?

Then there were good things again. One was a nice walk with my former roommate. She is so cute and so pregnant. We walked on the river trail and it was nice. I then went and watched A league of Their Own with Alyssa. That is one of my all-time favorite movies.

At least the night ended well, I guess. Now it is nearly 2 a.m. and I just feel like sleeping all day tomorrow seeing what I had planned on doing(moving) is not possible. Kinda bummed about that!

Let's hope things all work out! I guess my favorite quote will come in handy the next few days: "Things always work out in the end. If things aren't working out, it isn't the end."

Cheers to you(and I hope you are having a better day than me!),
A

I am a winner!

Howdy. That picture is of me and my new Discover Card gift card I got for entering a drawing a while back. It is actually from the Arena Football League. I actually entered a contest and won something, quite nice! A hundred free dollars is a nice surprise. It is going into the Wii fund by the way! :)

Today we had our last Red Robin trip for my co-workers. It was actually very nice. I sure do love those people. It is hard to say goodbye for the summer and for a few of them for a while!

I also saw the movie Ironman. I was very impressed seeing I wasn't too excited to see it and had no big expectations. It was a great movie. Very action packed and fun!

I am sleepy. It is nice to not have to worry about work, but at the same time I find myself not knowing what to do with myself. Funny!
