Hiking in Rock Canyon

Today was long at school. From a possible broken tailbone(student not me) to an almost fight in Boys' PE to a kid hacking all over the place, it just seemed long. It did go fast in some ways, which is good.

I went hiking with Kirsten (a new teacher at our school). She is pretty darn cool because she is pretty much my twin. We are very similar in personality and have a great time together. We hiked Rock Canyon and then picked up pizza and played Guitar Hero. It was way fun. We even convinced Janette to come and play with us on a school night! Crazy!

That is pretty much it. I truly love hiking in the fall. The colors are starting to change up there. It did make me sad the other day when I thought that winter is just behind fall but I have since reminded myself to live in the moment and enjoy the colors and fall in general.

Almost Midweek

Today went fast. I should be sleeping but I am not. I did a lot of cleaning tonight. People are coming over for Guitar Hero on Friday night after Burgers. We got paid today. I was excited but I am also not excited to see what I owe for my surgery.

I think this will be short. I am going hiking tomorrow so I think there will be pictures to add tomorrow. Look forward to that.

Just a note. I had a Kelly Clarkson free week. I thought I was getting a little obsessed. It was good. I was reminded that I have a ton of good music. I think my other music had gotten jealous. I am looking forward to listening to Kelly again tomorrow though. lol!

New Vinyl Sign

I just hung this sign over my front door. I love that quote because it reminds me of all the lessons I have learned from Challenge Day and Next Step. (learn more at challengeday.org) Each day I will be reminded that I am in control of my story! :) This is one of the two new signs I bought at the scrapbook expo. They were cheap!

The Packers came back from behind and beat the Bears tonight. It was pretty loud with my screaming in my living room. I was very happy.

Not much else. Had a good weekend. They do go much too fast, though. SIGH!

Hockey and things.

Okay. Who's idea was it to totally not blog for the whole week. Where did the time go? I think sometimes my life is still in a time warp post-surgery.

The week was mostly filled with work. The kids have been so good this term. It is making me worry that they are setting me up for something. I hope my classes remain small, although I know that the district will see we are not up to the numbers they want and send the troops on over to us.

Wednesday I had my post-op checkup and it seems that everything is healing nice. I can even start exercising again. Of course it is Sunday now and I still haven't started but it is a thought right?

I didn't sleep much this week. I kept waking up every two hours for unknown reasons. Then on Thursday I stayed up way too late watching a movie and playing Guitar Hero with one of our new hourly teachers. I am not even going to complain about the loss of sleep because in general, I have a great time with her. She is hilarious and totally can pick on me. She is already fitting right in at our school too. I really like getting new friends and it is fun to just click with people.

Lately, I feel really up and positive. Except when I am not. haha. The funny thing is that I really do feel great overall. Moments like bad traffic and insensitive people doing stupid stuff get in the way of it being 100%, but I really am enjoying my life right now. My job is good, I have great friends and an awesome family. Why wouldn't I be happy?

Tonight, I dragged Megan to the BYU-USU Hockey game here in Provo. It was pretty much a blow-out by USU which makes this Aggie happy. It has been nice to have Megan here again. We get a long well and are perfectly content with just hanging out and staring at the walls. Just kidding we really don't stare but that is what Megan calls just being. We went up to Salt Lake last night and attended a Scrapbook Expo. I told myself I wasn't going to spend too much money but ended up with quite a bit of stuff. My sister would have loved that place. There were so many vendors and so much stuff to make creative scrapbook pages! I will have to post the picture of all the stuff I bought later. I seem to have lost my cord to my camera. SIGH.

Well, I probably should be sleeping but I might just take in an episode of House. Gotta get caught up before it starts in a week or so!

Hope the weekend is treating you well. Enjoy the pics of hockey and one of my favorite things on earth, The Zamboni!

Labor Day Weekend

So why do they call it Labor Day if most people really just stay home and don't labor? Curious.

I had a great time in Vegas with the Bills family. Every time I mention said family, I feel like I need to explain The Bills and why they are like my second family. Or actually, more precisely, my other family. I met the Bills back in 1994. They pretty much opened their home and their hearts to me. They have even adopted me in a way. Whenever one of the Bills kids gets married, there are family pictures. I try to get out of the picture because I feel they should have a real family pic without me, but they always refuse. It is like I am family. I find it kinda cool to have two families because wherever I am, there is family. I love both my families, so please families, don't be jealous of each other! You are all awesome!

Morgan and Derek live in Vegas and just moved to a very cosy place way north of the strip. It is a nice place and I always love visiting them. Their three boys are so dang cute. I just want to squish them! Spencer decided that Alice was too hard to say so he would sometimes call me "Alalalala." Henry kept hitting me in the butt even though I told him a million times that my butt is a little tender. I guess three year olds just don't get that! Oliver smiled and smiled at me. He makes my heart happy. I have been really happy to have my second family because I get to be an aunt to wee little kids. I haven't got that with my own family so it is nice to have it. (NOW...I totally love my other neices and nephews too. See how I feel this guilt like I should only have a heart for my biological family, even though many of them are not biological either!)

We did some hiking in Nevada and I was pleasantly surprised that there could be beauty so near the grossness of the strip.(Don't get me wrong I love my Belagio Fountains, but The Strip really isn't my favorite place!) I even had the crazy thought that I could actually handle living there It was a fun hike, even if we thought it was much shorter and less strenuous than it was. I enjoyed it highly and found a great sense of accomplishment when I reached the teeny tiny waterfall at the top. The waterfall wasn't stellar but the view of the valley below was!

We also ate some great food and visited tons. We even played a bit of trivia via my tv plug in Buzztime. Way fun.

I felt like I need a vacation from my vacation at the end of work today. I am a lazy butt and just watched some episodes of House online. I am finally catching up from when my DVR died last spring.

I must now go get my Guitar Hero on.

Enjoy the pics of the hiking and fun trip. Relish in the beauty of the fountains, too. CHEERS! Also, the music is for Joshy Washy. He and I traveled together from Provo to Vegas. We sung "Behind These Hazel Eyes" in different octaves in honor of his hazel eyes. It was hilarious!
