Greetings from the Couch

Well, I'm on the couch again. It's what I do lately.

I did get myself off the couch to go watch my school's boys' basketball team win state in their division on Saturday.

It was fun. The game was a nail biter and intense.

I also organized the cords for all our tv stuff and unpacked the movies. Aren't the shelves Reuben made cool? We are pretty much close to being done with the unpacking!

Also, dinner at the Bills was yummy on Sunday. Even if it was soggy bread, Morgan! :)

That's all you get from the couch today!

Welcome to March!

Well, we made it to March, the longest month of any school teacher's life. The month has 31 days, and a total of five whole weeks. You are tired of winter, and the kids are also tired of winter. Your social filter is much weaker than it was in August, and you can only get yourself out of bed because you can say you are one day closer to Spring Break. March is hard.

I know that those of you that are teachers, or have ever been one, totally understand that last paragraph. Then, there are some of you that just can't sympathize because you don't know what it is like and then there are others who are a little bit clueless who say things like: "Teachers have an easy job because they only work 9 months a year, and only work from 8-3." To those peeps, I just roll my eyes and say "You'll never get it and it isn't worth my time explaining. I have lessons to plan and papers to grade."

Okay, all serious teacher talk aside, I really do love my job.

What isn't to love?

The creativity? The silly off-task behavior?

This is the only picture I have taken this week. Apparently, I need to get a life.

But all I want to do after I get home from work is to lay on the couch and stare at the TV. It's hard work developing a human!

Some women have told me that the second trimester of pregnancy is awesome because you feel better and have more energy. Sure, I don't feel like vomiting 24/7, but I'm still waiting for the whole energy rush. Anytime I am not moving, my body wants to be sleeping. Good thing there is lots of hand movement while writing a blog post.

I am going to try and write more often this month. Most of February was spent on the couch starring. Hopefully, March will be filled with adventure. Who knows? Maybe the first pictures of bebecita(this is a gender neutral term, even though I really think it is a "she," thus the feminine "a"at the end.) will be posted by the end of the month. My next appointment is on the 19th and we should be scheduling the ultrasound that day, I am guessing. Technically, for 50 bucks we could have one now, but to be honest, I am not in a hurry. It's kinda fun having the mystery. And I am thinking 50 dollars could buy a few meals on spring break!!! So, we wait.

I'll post a baby bump pic soon. It seems to be biggest right after a meal so I'll be sure to catch it then!

So, until the muse(or energy) to write hits again, have a great day(or great days if it is longer!!!)

Cheers!

A Month of Silence Ends

This past month has escaped me. I don't even know where to start.

I guess I'll start with today. This year has been the year of being flexible at work and today was no different. We had a very cool assembly half way through the day but in order to do so, we had a silly schedule. This meant that one of my classes was displaced to set up for said assembly. I didn't realize it until this morning which made for an interesting "What do we do with our PE class with no gym?" moment. It worked out but it is always an adventure when flying by the seat of your pants. My pants are getting a bit thin.

Here are cool pics of the assembly though!

Cool BMX tricks!

A blurry vice principal and bike flying over her head. A highlight!

In other news, I have a baby bump now:

It even seems a bit bigger today. Maybe another pic is necessary!

The new house is almost in order. Crazy, no? Here are a few after the remodel pics:

New wood floors

Kitchen

Master bedroom new paint and carpet.

The office. I love my orange wall.

Baby room.

Front room.

I'll have to take some finished pics as soon as our tv is mounted on the wall and the last of the boxes is unpacked.

What else? A month is a lot of time. We did hear baby's heartbeat back in the end of January. It was cool and made me cry! This whole baby growing inside of me is very weird but also very exciting. I'm about 17 weeks now. The morning sickness is better, but I am still tired all the time!

Speaking of which, I am falling asleep while writing this. I hope you all have survived a month without my ramblings. Until next time, may the force be with you!

The Last Day Without Floors

Hi all.

Sorry it has been so long and that I haven't updated this blog in forever. I think I may have burned out on blogging durning the month of blogging last month. I have also been a bit busy with the remodeling. Reuben has been working so hard too. In fact, he is there now, while I am falling asleep on the couch. That has happened a lot this past week. I have never been so tired in my life. It is tough work making a baby.

Here are some pics of the place before flooring gets put in. Check back for the after pics. I'm so excited for this to be done and the move to be over!

Reuben getting old pieces of carpet pad off. This is the office.

The green room(baby) waits for carpet.

The master bedroom awaits.

The hallway looking toward the living room. Imagine wood floors!

The kitchen.

The living room.

The office or orange room.

Can't wait to see the final product, can you?

Bonus pic from the last week. We had a themed week at school: one million bones and learned about genocide. Each of these bones the students made symbolize a person killed through genocide and will be on the mall in D.C. In June as a part of the big project One Million Bones. Check out their website HERE

The End of 2012

Hi folks. Happy New Year.
I had a blast at the Kristin Chenoweth concert. Reuben was still with the plague, so my friend Megan came from the south to go with me. I was glad she came because she is great company. We were lucky to not miss any of the concert even though dinner at Dairy Keen in Heber City made us six minutes late!

You can't really see her, but Kristin looks like an angel, no? A little 4'11" angel! She is truly ear candy, her voice is a treat. What an amazingly talented singer she is and she is also hilarious and down to earth. We totally would be friends if we knew each other! She was fun to hang with on New Year's.
I read this tonight:

It's the letter I wrote myself a year ago today.
It made me cry and be inspired.
Here are my favorite bits:
"Maybe if you didn't fall in love(lucky for me I did!), at least you have loved big in other ways. Have you told those close to you that you love them? Have you been kind to people even when it is hard? Have you made time for people and known when they needed you? Maybe if you haven't now's the time to refocus!"
"It's funny to write to you. I think it would be more cool if I'd get a letter from you telling me what I need to know for this year. If only we had that kind of preparing."
"Did you ever go out with Reuben?"
"I hope our journey in 2012 was cool. That we learned more about us and that we smiled more than cried. Here's to another great year!"
Yep. Here's to the best one yet. Cheers! Happy New Year!

I'm going to document my journey better this year in this inspirational journal.
P.S. you should write a letter to your future self. It's fun to see what happens compared to what you thought might happen! Thanks to Jill and Kate for the idea.
