Favorite things right now…

 My five favorites right now:

1. My lucky shirt:

I wear this very Tuesday to bring Ilona Maher luck on Dancing with the Stars.

2. Fall:

Fall is my favorite color.

3. My School Bag:

My only Disneyland souvenir! It makes going to work easier every day! A true smile maker.

4.  Campfires:

This past weekend was filled with sitting around the fire while camping.
5. My Peleton:

Lately it is watching Halloween shows and movies while pedaling. I can only handle three times a week because I suddenly have an old lady hip!

The Best Thing…

The best thing about having a ringing in your ears all day…

…is getting a 2 hour nap when you get home from work.

The End.

Funny Things from Biking with Teens

Teaching a bike class has its ups and downs. Most rides are just normal, get-out-of-the-school, types of rides. But sometimes there are hidden gems to add to my upcoming memoir.

Last year, it was the girl who thought riding one-handed while carrying a drink was a good idea...until she hit the front brakes hard and went over the handlebars in the parking lot.

This year's first highlight was the boy who also hit the front brake hard as we all were waiting for him at a stop sign.  I asked him if he was okay, and he said: "Yeah, I meant to do that, it was like a joke."  No friend, falling off a bike is no joke, and you may have felt that it helped your pride to pretend it was on purpose, but we all know it wasn't.

Then, during the camping trip and the ride in Red Canyon, three different boys crashed after begging me at the beginning of the ride to go fast.

And the real stellar one was the kid who kept not using his ears while on the camping trip.  I shouldn't have said it, but I did as he rode across the highway after being told to walk the bike: “ya know, survival of the fittest is real and one day it may get you…and kharma will also catch up to you eventually!” Just two minute later, as we got to the bike trailer, he crashed. My only thought : kharma sometimes acts fast.

Goofy kids.

Perspective

Life is full of moments. In those moments, there is always an opportunity to see things in two ways. Will you see the good and positive or be crippled by the negative?

I got a soda at Cupbop to go with my delightful meal.

I noticed that everybody had a curvy fancy straw and I didn’t.

It didn’t seem fair. Where did they get these special fancy straws?…

…then I thought: why would there be straws without the fancy curves?

And I realized that didn’t seem right. And I wondered if my straw just was hiding…
🫣

And it was hiding inside my cup.

Sometimes we think life is unfair and that we are being picked on. Truth is we may need to just look a little harder and work to get to what we are looking for. Many times that desired thing is just hidden under the surface of something like pride or laziness.

Many times we are just so tired that straws become life lessons.

Fall is my favorite color…

The best and quickest part of the year is fall. Be sure to get out and enjoy it for a split second before it fades away. We took a picnic up into the mountains. It was good for our souls.
