In our church, I think we do a good job of teaching and caring for the children. For kids ages 8-11, there is a weekly get together called Activity Days. Here the kids meet together for an hour to learn The Gospel of Christ as well as build relationships.
This week, they went to an exhibit at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah entitled: The Tree of Life. This sculpture exhibit portrays elements of a story from The Book of Mormon which is all about the redemption and hope that can be found through Jesus Christ. (You can read this here if you would like!)
I am so glad I was invited to chaperone because I felt peace as we walked through the sculpture garden.
The two parts that touched my soul were a sculpture of Jesus with His arms outstretched. I pondered about what it would be like to really be in the presence of The Savior.
I also found the depiction of the empty tomb very moving.
I felt within my soul a feeling of hope and peace. That tomb being empty means so much to me. It means after I leave this world through death, it won’t be the end. It means I too, like Jesus, will be able to live again. This empty tomb means I will be able to see my ancestors and special friends again. It means I will be able to hug and see my sweet mom again!!!!! What wonderful hope this empty tomb brings me.
Christmas is coming soon. What a wonderful time of year! But Easter…man, it gets me.
I hope you can find peace in this troubling world through The Savior of this World, even Jesus Christ. May his words ring true to your heart:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” -John 14:27
Peace be unto all of us!
