There Is Just Nothing Like Jello!

I work with pretty cool people.  That is all I can say.  When I got to my 8th hour today, this wonderful masterpiece(see pic) was on my desk.  Some of you may not know, but I love the TV show The Office.  It makes me laugh lots and lots.  In one episode, one of the characters,Jim, plays a prank on another character, Dwight. Jim puts Dwight's stapler in Jello.  It is just a hilarious bit.  The writer's strike has been killing me because I am not getting my weekly dose of humor that The Office provides.  Well today was a Thursday that did not pass without the same kind of laughs.  Thanks guys for doing that for me.

What made the whole event even more funny is that they video taped me and my reaction to the Jello.  It was pretty funny.  One of my co-workers says the video will be on her blog sometime.  I will let you know when it is up and ready and give you the address for it.  I am sure it is quite entertaining.  She is the same person today who said I should not blog at midnight anymore.  She is right and I am now doing this before I leave work today.  It is only 4:44 pm.

For those of you that may be thinking that 4:44 is pretty late for me to be at work, should know that I really haven't been doing much work here after school.  I actually have been chatting it up with lots of my fellow co-workers.  They are pretty awesome.  I think you actually have to be awesome to be hired here.  Okay, maybe not everybody at my work has quite the same awesomeness, but you get my drift.

I am always using funny sayings lately. At least I get "get my drift" right.  The other day I said to somebody that they "have their own pan to fry."  Today I said: "I just opened the fire on that one."  I think I really do need some more sleep.  Good thing the weekend is coming!

Well, off to my home to workout and shower before some wonderful social events! Later!

Yet another reason why the youth of today are failing!

Hi. Just a short little blog about my students. I really am tired right now. I am ready for the weekend and it is only Wednesday night. At least I can tell myself tomorrow morning that I only have to get up early two more times this week! Yipee! I think it is bad to live your life weekend to weekend, but sometimes that is how you survive through the madness.

Onto the original subject. The reason why kids are failing today...it takes a class of 15 students 10 minutes to staple two pieces of paper together. WE were making a little study book in Health today and it was really simple. Stager the papers and then staple them. They are funny, it took a few of them a very long time to get it done. Some of them also had a hard time getting the two different colored pieces of paper into the right order! Sillies!

On a positive note, our boys basketball team won again tonight. They are officially undefeated for their Provo City League season! They really play well as a team. They pass the ball and are good sports to each other and the other team. Maybe there is hope for their generation after all! :)

Dangerous Questions!

Today, I asked the 8 Ball if winter would ever end. It said no. Sorry guys, we will now have an eternal winter.

Okay, so maybe I did not ask the 8 ball that question but the weather seems to be answering the question on its own. I am so sick of snow and coats. HATE THEM.

I think I need a full-spectrum lamp or some prozac. Actually, I am having a good time this week. I just hate driving and also being outside. Maybe I should just ground myself to the indoors. Life would be easier!

Off to sleep! Cheers.

Life Via The Magic Eight Ball!

I have recently decided that it would be interesting to carry a Magic Eight Ball around and make all my decisions based on what the ball had to say. I really wonder sometimes what my life would be like if I actually did this.

My question: "Should I wash my dishes?"
Magic 8 Ball's Answer: "Reply Hazy, try again."
My question: "Should I wash my dishes?"
Magic 8 Ball's Answer: "Signs point to yes."

The unfortunate thing about me and my little 8 Ball is that I usually don't listen to the first answer anyway. I just ask the question again and again until the ball gives me what I believe to be the right answer.

Question: "Should I go on a diet?" (thinking and adding the following: or will somebody find me irresistible eventually anyway")
Answer: "Yes---Definitely"
Questioning again: "Should I go on a diet?"
Answer: "My reply is no."

Much better!

Maybe I will experiment with making decisions based solely on what the ball tells me. Maybe just one day I will do it. By the way, I inherited this wonderful seeing the future tool from one of the former secretaries at work. I always would go into her office and ask questions about my dating life and if it were going to ever get better. She thought I was hilarious! She was very worried that I took what the ball said too seriously. She is a silly lady and I really do miss her!

Well, off to bed. I hope you enjoyed me ranting about one of my favorite possessions. I think I would add The Magic 8 Ball(by Mattel) to my list of things I would marry if it were a man!

Ah, The Good Life..Pizza and Beer(Root kind of course!)

The weekend has come and gone and I do not know how I feel about that yet. I was so excited for the weekend to come and was so excited to have some more time to sleep and do some of the things that I wanted to do, but it has seemed to go way too fast as it always does!

Overall, it was a pretty good weekend. Friday, I went to dinner and a movie with a friend. If you have not seen Dan in Real Life, make sure you come to my house and watch it after I have purchased the DVD in February! It is a good one. Saturday, I went into work for a while to get some of the files off of my last laptop and put them onto the current one. Very exciting! Then I picked up a different friend and we went to the movie 27 Dresses. If you have not seen that, it was a great movie as well. After the movie, I heard a girl saying that she didn't like it because it was too predictable. Seriously, aren't all romantic comedies predictable? Get a clue. That is why you like those kinds of movies. Things usually end up the way you want them to and they are feel good movies. I liked it a lot. I was very impressed by Katherine Heigl's performance. She really is as good as the media says she is! After that, we went to dinner. I have eaten out a lot lately and I love it. I have been pretty good about exercising so I am not feeling as guilty as I could about the eating out. We had my favorite pizza Nicoitalias(if you ever come to Provo or even live in Provo you will have to eat some of this fab pizza). We also had one of my favorite Rootbeers. So good, please enjoy the pic of it. Even though the picture is not as good as the rootbeer itself!

Today was my adoptive little brother's birthday, so I ventured up to Salt Lake after I went to church. They let me have dinner and cake so I was in heaven as I always am with free food. It is crazy to think little bro turned 17 today. I remember when he was three and so tiny and cute and fun. Not that he is not cute and fun today, just less tiny! (He towers over me at about 6' 2" now!) I love hanging out with the adopted family and getting caught up with them. I hadn't seen them since New Years. I love the fun conversations and especially when someone in the family says "Alice, are you losing weight again?" It always makes me feel good seeing I am still heavier than I was this time last year!

Well, it is much too late to be up and I must hit the shower and sleep. Gotta be up and good for school tomorrow, I can't wait! :)

Competent Supervision!

This week was the final week of volleyball in PE class. For the last day, I found this amazing huge beach ball. (I really wish I would have found it earlier, because my girls' PE class could actually keep the beach ball up!) It was so fun to see the kids get so excited about playing. They LOVED the huge ball. One student did not though. She was quite afraid because she thought the ball was much bigger than she was. It was pretty funny to see her run away from the ball the first few times it came her way. It was also pretty awesome to see her actually get up the guts to hit it really hard and she got it over the net. One of the proud moments in PE.

I still am not sure though if I am competent supervision. I hope I was but what happens if I wasn't?

This week seemed so very long even though it was short because of Monday's holiday. Why did that happen? I was so very impatient with kids at times. My leadership class is one of those classes that gets the brute of my fury. For some reason, they just don't want to do anything that they should be doing. I hate it. Today, I actually pulled the headphone out of the ear of a kid that was in that class. The funny thing is that he isn't even enrolled in that class; he was in there working on a project for my Health Class. I apologized and he was so very good about it. I wish they all could be like him! :)

This weekend will be full of much R&R. Sleeping in sounds so very good. It actually was the only thing that got me out of bed this morning. Oh besides that whole job thing, that is!

Be excited for the weekend! Yippee!

Things I Would Marry If They Were Men...

Just a list today. One of my friends loves to always ask me if I like things enough that I would marry them, if they were men. I have quite a few things in life that I love enough to want to marry them.

1. The Sharpie Markers pictured above. Out of all my presents this Christmas, this was one of the tops. I was using the markers this past week and I kept saying: "Man, I love my Sharpies!"

2. My Diamondback mountain bike. I have had many silent conversations with my bike. I love to get up in the mountains of Utah and just ride. Man, I live in a beautiful place and have a great bike!

3. My new comforter. It is so very big and warm. I love sleeping with it!

4. DVR. Man, I am so lucky to be able to tape all the TV I want to see and then watch it when I want to and be able to zip right through commercials.

5. The TV show The Office. I cannot get enough of it. It is hilarious. Sometimes I am actually lying on the floor laughing my head off. I love John Krasinski; he is one of my imaginary boyfriends. I think my favorite episode is "Beach Games."

6, My Carport. I love that when it snows I do not have to brush off my car. So very wonderful. It makes the lack of good laundry facilities almost worth it.

7. My surround sound system. I bought a cheap one just before the holidays and it rocks. I love to watch movies with it it blasting!

8. My Nike beanie hat with the brim. It is so very cute and fun. I wear it just about everyday!

9. Converse All-Stars. I have like ten pairs of them. I love to wear them. Too bad they are too slippery to wear in the winter on the snow.

10. Nintendo Wii. So very fun to play. I am lucky to have a friend who allows me to play it every once in a while.

Well, I think that is it for now. I hope that you all have things you would marry if it were the opposite sex. Unless you are married already, of course. That would be awkward. Maybe if I get married one day, I will have to not have lists like this anymore.

One funny moment of the day: One of my students thought it was hilarious whenever I said "risks." Say it over and over. It is kind of an awkward word and very fun to say. One of my new favorite words.

Peace!

Happy News in the middle of the Dark, Cold Winter!

I got the above letter in the mail today and seriously, when I opened it, I started to cry. A small part of my many dollars in student loans is officially paid in full. A total of $4,400 has been paid back because I am a teacher. Awesome. I love it. It is some good news in a winter that feels will never end.

I think the February blues are starting in January and that is not a good thing. It snowed yesterday, it snowed today, and I think it just might snow tomorrow. Can I say I am done with snow and winter? I am. I hate shoveling off my steps, and I totally despise jackets. I want my shorts and t-shirt days back! I want to be walking around town in my flip flops not my clunky boots. HATE, HATE, HATE!

If I were to be living anywhere else right now, today, here are some of the places I would like:

1. Australia. I saw some professional tennis that is going on there now and I realized that it is summer there right now.

2. Hawaii

3. San Diego

4. Any tropical island

5. My futon under blankets with the heat pumping. Oh wait, that is where I am right now! :)

Normal Blood Pressure, Already?

Yesterday, as stated before, was a day of shopping. I got myself a new Blood Pressure monitor. I thought it was broken because when I took my blood pressure last night, it was in the normal range. I am never in the normal range; my blood pressure is always high. My friend always has low blood pressure, so she tried and and we found out that my new gage is actually accurate. After being on the drug for my HBP for only two days, it has already regulated my BP. Awesome huh? The most awesome part is that I really haven't had any side effects either. That is great news huh? Enjoy the picture of me and my new monitor with a normal reading! Thanks Sue for making me try something else before giving up!

The Packers lost in overtime today. That was hard on me. I was sad and still am sad. Oh well, I guess the Super Bowl will be like most Super Bowls for me-uninteresting! Even though the Giants beat the Packers, I will probably root for them in the Super Bowl. Nobody likes the Patriots, except for maybe weirdos!

Well, not much happening here. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and having the day off. Not much planned just some laundry and maybe a movie!

To Warm Sleeps!

Today I bought a new comforter for my bed. I am so excited to sleep because of it. I am sure I will be up later but it is a good to know I will be real warm when I do get to sleep. I shopped and shopped and shopped like normal when my friend Moo is in town. I got myself some gum, the comforter, and a blood pressure cuff. Very exciting stuff. Do realize, if you are my friend and come to visit me, I will be having you take your blood pressure. It is a good thing to know. I need to measure mine tonight.

I was so very lazy today. I got out of bed about 9am and then got myself to my couch where I lounged around and watched movies until about one this afternoon. Then I cleaned up a little and went off to the shopping with Moo. We also had some fabulous food from Mimi's. I had the Turkey, yum!

Not much else of note today.

The trainings I went to for work this week were good. At least Thursday was good. Friday, I pretty much mentally slept through. It was a bit boring. At least they feed us well. Last night was also Burger Friday and that is always fun. We ate and then played some games. Good times.

Well, until later. A

Kids are hilarious!

Well, I am starting to believe that I have friends who have kids solely for my own enjoyment. One of my friends from school has a little two year old girl. She entertained me a lot last night during dinner, wii playing, and a basketball game. First off she was asked if she was hungry and she said: "Yes-terday." Apparently, she only needs to eat every two days or so. She was then telling us some story at dinner and we did not understand what she was saying. Eventually, her mother asked her what she was talking about and my two year old friend said: "I don't know!" While at the basketball game, she was sitting in front of me looking for elephants in the bleachers and kept telling me that she could only see elephant poop down in the bleachers. She also got a little scared when I was cheering and said to her mom while cupping her ears(the pic is of me imitating her!): "Mom, can we go home, Alice is screaming and scaring me!" She is hilarious. My two year old friend and I also played catch with a volleyball in the school's office for about an hour. It was so fun!

The work week feels like it is over for me seeing that there is no school tomorrow and I have been at a training today and will be tomorrow. For the first time, it actually is a worthwhile training and I already have learned some things that I can use in my classes. Very good stuff. It is not a boring training either. It is very interactive and fun!

Tonight, I watched a bit of 24 with a friend while eating delectable cookies. I am trying not to eat bad foods during the week but obviously I am not doing good enough with it yet! I also went and watched some of the guys from my church play ball. They lost but it was still fun. It is good to get out even though it is so very cold right now. The temptation is to just bundle up on my futon and enjoy lots of brain cell killing TV, but it is very good to get me out of the house! Winter is still not my favorite but one day it will leave again. Maybe! lol.

Well, happy Friday. It is my favorite day of the week! Later.

P.S. Mom-another medical update. I got my new BP meds today. Will start taking them on Saturday. Waiting for a day that it won't matter if I am dizzy or not! Love ya!

Twelve Miles You Say?

It is late.  It is cold outside.  My contacts are getting fuzzy.  All of these things tell me that I should be in bed.

It was so hard to exercise today.  12 miles felt like 200.  Why is it that sometimes exercising goes very fast and is easy and sometimes it is not?

Well, that is all I got today.  Sorry for the shortness.  Enjoy your Wednesday!  I know I am going to!  Later.

P.S. Mom-I called the Doctor's office today. Somebody should have called me by tomorrow's end and I will have a new blood pressure medicine. I can be grown up sometimes! :)

Is it Thursday yet?

Hi blog readers.

I like gloves.  They keep my fingers warm.  I especially like them when it is cold in the morning on my way to work.  They keep my fingers warm when my whole body wants to shiver into oblivion.  I heard that it is supposed to get even colder in these parts this week.  Can I just say that I am done with winter?  I think winter is nice for about two days and then I am usually done with it.  I really should make the move to Hawaii.

I also like ice cream sandwiches.  I like ice cream sandwiches from Smart Cookie.  I like ice cream cookies even when it is cold outside.  Ice cream cookies remind me of summer and the treats associated with summer.  Is it summer yet?

I also like lunch time.  Lunch time is special time at our school.  I like when the conversation at lunch gets inappropriate.  Today, one of our teachers paused in the middle of a sentence that started like this: "The prostitutes were great..."  I almost spit water all over everybody at my table.  She then finished the sentence but I have no clue what she said.  All I remember is thinking about how she knew the prostitutes were great!  Bad Alice; Hilarious Family and Consumer Science Teacher!

I like my new classes. My new classes are small.  My new classes don't know what to expect, so they are nice.  I wish my new classes would stay this way forever, but I know they won't.

Well, I like to sleep too and I must go do that after getting clean.  Smelly after exercising Alice needs to bathe.

Happy Tuesday and smile a little...it looks good on you! :)

Go Packers

The Packers won their first playoff game today.  I was a little scared in the first quarter when they were down by 14 points, but they came back and were victorious.  Love it.

I went into work today and cleaned off my desk.  It is made out of wood.  I am always so excited and surpised to see it.  It will be nice to be organized for the start of the second semester.  I am both excited and nervous to get some new students in some of my classes.  It is always weird to train a new batch.

Other than those two things I have not done a whole lot today.  It has been a nice and relaxed day.  I love my saturdays.

I just finished typing my New Years letter.  Maybe in the next week I will actually get my cards sent.  I like the way they turned out this year.  I bet your all are excited to get one in the mail.  If I miss you, please don't be offended.  Just email me and remind me that you need one.  There is only so much I can do, okay people?

Well, I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Cheers,
A

Fonduetastic!

Happy almost Friday.  I really like the end of the week.  I wish that all days could be Friday. Actually, I don't really because then we would not ever have weekends.  So, I take that back.  I like Fridays but we shouldn't have them everyday.  I do, on the other hand, think that we should have two day work weeks with a five day weekend.  I think there would be much less depression and the world would know more peace!  I think that is reason enough to change things, don't you?

Well, for Enrichment(a church event were the women of the ward get together and bond and grow!) tonight we had a fondue party.  Can I just say that I love cheese?  Melted cheese, fried cheese, sliced cheese, shredded cheese.  Really anyway that cheese could be prepared, I like.  We had some fantastic melted cheese. Well, it was kinda melted.  We used crock pots and really they do not keep the cheese hot enough to spread well.  But we made due.  We also had chocolate fondue, which actually would be considered candy by a lot of people, but I decided that it was melted and it was okay.  (I am not eating candy during the week; it is part of the new years resolutions.)

So, the fondue party was fun and that is the reason for the picture of a crock pot with chocolate in it.  There is one more reason for the picture.  One of my friends wanted to have some more delicious chocolate while we were cleaning up and you can see her finger strike in the chocolate.  Unfortunately for her finger, it was really hot and she burned the finger.  That explains the clump of chocolate on the right side(ouch, that is hot!).  The funny thing about this is that I actually had the same temptation to put my finger in that pot but thought it might be too warm and I checked out the temperature above the chocolate, and decided to not have anymore.  I really should have passed on that info to my poor defenseless friend.

Today was good.  We talked about abstinence in my Health Class.  I think it went well.  I did get picked on because I am a 30 Year Old Virgin and they think the movie 40 Year Old Virgin is hilarious.  I am totally okay with sharing that info with my students because I honestly feel they need to know that it is possible to live life without having sex prior to being married.  I also think they need to know why people actually choose to not have sex until they are married.  I am totally okay with that awkwardness! :)

Other than that, it was pretty much a typical Thursday.  I was tired, but I felt more sorry for another one of my friends because she only had two hours of sleep.  We were at her house until 12 playing the Wii and after we left she stayed up to plan a lesson for school and didn't go to be until 2.  Then her daughter was up at 4, so I can only imagine how tired she was today.  Can I just say I love the Wii?  I do.  It is so very fun.  Even when I get beat at baseball on the Wii it is fun and that is saying something.  I really am thinking that one day I will invest in one.  Too bad they are so hard to get.  Sigh!

Well, enjoy your Friday.  Yea for the weekend!

Those other two pics are of me and my new glasses.  The eyes behind the glasses are tired, so off to bed they go!  I guess I will bring the rest of me too!

More awkwardness.

Well, at least I am not the only awkward person on the planet.  Today I started my unit on Human Reproduction in Health class and my 8th hour was pretty awkward.  They are usually my most loud and obnoxious class.  As soon as we started going over the anatomy of the reproductive systems, they were dead silent.  A few minutes into the discussion, my attention was drawn to a comment from the back of the room.  One of my students had just said: "That is too personal,"  and had a very worried look on his face.  I asked what was going on back there and the girl who was talking with him said:  "I was just telling him about menstrual cycles."  Too funny.  This student thought that talking about menstrual cycles was just too personal.  Like he was talking about something embarrassing for himself.  Funny.  He was perfectly okay with talking about the male reproductive system, but menstruation that was just too personal.  So very funny!

Other than that, not too much of importance or excitement happened today.  Did some laundry(have I mentioned that I hate doing that?), did some grocery shopping(which I have put off for about two weeks now!), and talked with some friends.

That is all I have.  No tips, no suggestions, just a funny moment from my day.  Be sure you have a great day today! :)

Awkwardness breeds awkwardness!

Have I mentioned that I feel awkward a lot of the time lately?  Well, I do.  The most recent awkwardness was going to Family Home Evening with my fellow single ward members tonight.  I do not know what happened but all of the sudden I was acting like an obnoxious 21 year old.  Not that I am saying that the people that I was hanging out with were obnoxious, but I started to be.  Then after I realized that I was acting like that, I just felt awkward.  I really have this whole awkward thing going well lately.  I also have a love of pink going on too.  I really think that these things go together.  I think that maybe I never had my awkward going through puberty experience because I was too busy being a tom-boy and playing sports.  All of the sudden, I am girly.  (well as girly as this girl can get!)  It is weird.  Maybe this is my awkward teen years catching up with me at 30.  That must be it!

I am not a very good teacher these days.  I am going through my hard month either early or late.  I don't remember having a real hard time in November, so maybe I am having that hard time now.  The next hard time should not be coming until February.  So maybe I am early.  Maybe I will only have one hard time this Winter.  Who knows?  All I know is that I am having a hard time being a good teacher right now because I really just don't care.  Maybe it is that whole new attitude of "whatev"

Well, short and sweet today.

Enjoy my lucky shirt backwards thanks to the computer inverting it.  I am glad that it really isn't that way on my shirt because then I think people might stare and that would just add to all my awkwardness!

Blizzardy

Well, it snowed quite a bit this weekend.  It made me want to move to any island that would be warm all year long.  I envision myself eating lobsters that I would catch for myself and just lying on the beach all the time.  Maybe I would not want a deserted island though.  It is nice to have people to talk to and to be able to go to the store to buy things like books.  Anybody want to move to an island with me?

I didn't do a whole lot this weekend.  Friday night, I watched 24 with a friend.  Saturday, I did a whole lot of nothing with a bit of cleaning here and there.  Saturday night, I ate dinner with a different friend and also went to the movie Juno.

Today I taught the lesson in Relief Society, and it was a relief to have it over.  Tonight, I am tired and it is only 9.  I am thinking of staying warm in my bed while reading Twilight.  I know if I go to sleep right now, I will be up at 4 and that would be no fun.

Here are a few of my New Years Resolutions:

1.  Lower my blood pressure-I have already been to my doctor and am on meds now.
2.  Be more spiritual-Lots of churchy stuff for me.  I even have a chart that I put a star on for each day I read my scriptures.
3.  Be more patient and nice-I am more conscious of this even if I sometimes have no patience with my students.  I am working on it.
4.  Write and read more- I want to write three poems a month and write a chapter to my novel.  I also want to read more good books.  I think I am doing better at the reading already.
5.  Play that banjo- I bought a banjo for 90 dollars this summer but have not been good about playing it enough.  I am planning on getting a teacher in the next month.

Well, there you have it, my big five.  I have also adopted a new attitude called "Whatev."  I am trying not to freak out so much about things I shouldn't.  Sometimes I just have to remind myself to breathe and and that things will happen when they need to happen.  Being less stressed is always a good idea!

Well, I hope you have not broken your resolutions yet but I would also hope that your realize that even if you break one or all of them, that you can start again.  I think it is pretty funny that people won't make resolutions just because they think they will not keep them.  You can do anything that you want to and even if you stumble a bit, you can get back to it.  Remember that most habits take 21 days to actually become habit.  So, maybe by Jan 21 we will all be a bit closer to being real good at our new resolutions!

Good luck, and good night! :)

p.s.  thought it would be appropriate to add some photos of New Years at the Bills for my resolution post.  There are also some deep in thought pics of me in my office.  I am thinking of how I will ever have a clean desk and be ready for second semester.

Tired

I have been back for a few days and still haven't unpacked. I think
part of that is that I have been pretty busy since being back and that
I am lazy and tired. I spent lots of time with the adopted family up
in Salt Lake on New Years Eve and Day. It was good to see Morgan and
her little kids. Her baby is so very cute. Check out her website(it
is listed on the side of my blog) and see for yourself. Such a very
happy baby. We shopped lots and watched Back to the Future. I slept
through it but woke up just in time to ring in the new year and then
ten minutes later sleep more.

On New Years Day I hung out with them more and then went back to Provo
and played some games with some other teachers. Good times. We have
decided that we should have a game night every week. I hope we stick
to that.

Then I slept and went to school yesterday. It went real well and
quickly. I am glad for that. Soon it will be the weekend again and I
am excited for that!

I am getting a bit of a cold and I don't like it. I am trying to take
as much Vitamin C as I can but it is not helping very much. My nose
runs lots and then sometimes it decides to completely clog giving me
very bad headaches! Dang it. I hope it will pass quickly too!

Well, I am making this a quick one because I am at school and need to
get back to work! One day I will list all of the resolutions.
Someday I will get time, I think! :)
