Well...The last full day in California was good and it went really fast. It started with a run along the bay, then Marla and I headed to Old Towne and had some fantastic Mexican food. We walked around the shops and it was fun. In the afternoon we headed to the beach. Too bad we didn't go to the beach earlier in the day because it was cloudy and not very warm when we were there. It was still gorgeous, though. We actually took an adventure to Del Mar and around the hills where the rich kids live. It was fun. We then ate some In N Out for dinner and watched some TV on the fantastically huge and awesome flat screen in our room.
Well, off to the races and the 10 hour drive that is ahead of us!
Well, the adventures continued yesterday. We have been using the GPS to get around and most of the time this is very nice. Sometimes it makes me want to poke my own eyes out. Let's just say we have taken the secret slow way many times. Getting to Roscoe's House of Chicken N Waffles in Long Beach yesterday was one of those times. But the craziness of the journey was well worth it because that breakfast was pretty much amazing.
We then headed to San Diego. It took a little longer that expected because somebody, who won't be name, locked the keys to the rental car in it. Luckily, said person has pretty good luck when talking to strangers and picked the right one to ask for help. Chuck was his name and he look similar to what I imagine many of my students will look like in the future. He had a very long goatee and gaged ears. He also was driving a truck for a living and wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He kinda laughed when asked if he knew how to break into a car. I thought that was a pretty darn good question to start the conversation for help. Anyway, we called Enterprise, who got us in touch with AAA, who got us a person to break into our car and sixty-one dollars later, we were back on our way to San Diego. It was a beautiful drive and a good day, even with that small set back.
We checked into our hotel right when getting into San Diego and it is amazing. We have gone up in class each day when it comes to our rooms, which has been pleasantly surprising. Marla thinks I should be a travel agent because I am so good at finding nice hotels. I don't know if I would enjoy that profession but I probably would be pretty darn good at it!
This morning I got up and ran down the San Diego Bay. I can see why people would live in this place. Running next to the water is awesome! We are going to head on to Old Town and find another beach to hang on today. It will be hard to head back to reality tomorrow, but this has been a great vacation.
Wednesday was awesome. It had both and awesome beginning and an awesome ending!
To begin the day, I ran on the beach and then Marla and I found beach trash...or treasures the waves bring onto shore. Things like sand dollars and shells.
We then headed into Hollywood and saw the Chinese Theatre, The Walk of Fame, The Hollywood Sign, The Kodak Theatre and we even drove down Rodeo Drive. Fancy!
Then to end the day we went out to Anaheim to catch an Angel's game. That makes five ballparks that I have visited. (My quest is to hit all of them in my lifetime!) It was a blast. I sure do love baseball and now that it has started again...the hope of summer is again here!
We are now off to San Diego and more adventures! Yipee!!!
Today we drove from Vegas to Los Angeles. I do have to say that LA drivers are CRAZY!!! I also have to say that a GPS's directions can sometimes be really stupid. Like when it would say: "Stay in left lane, then exit right!" SERIOUSLY? How is that even possible? So, we got a little tense tonight while getting to The Santa Monica Pier but we made it, nevertheless.
We did stop in Baker, CA so we could see the World's Largest Thermometer. That was life changing but not as life changing as the Alien Fresh Jerky Store. I really don't know if the jerky was made out of Aliens or if the Aliens made the jerky. Who knows?
The lookout from our room here in LA is awesome. The pictures really don't do it justice as is often the case with pictures. There is a really cool Chinese garden right out our window that is very relaxing. You can hear the fountains through our balcony window. (That is much more relaxing than the smell of weed that we keep smelling through our balcony window...that just irritates me!)
We walked around the pier and then had dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. It was delicious. I am very full still.
